The term "soul" became popular initially through music. It spread from there.
Soul music arose out of the African American experience in the 1950s. We suffered from racism but survived with pride and expressed ourselves through music - particularly soul music, which was the result of combining gospel music and the blues. The term "soul" evolved to become a symbol of solidarity within the Black American community and was used to describe food (soul food), hairstyles (soul patch) and many other things.
"Soul" is a term that represents the racial identity, energy, and spirit of our community. Let the world know that you've got soul with this tee.
